Aga Khan University (AKU) with teaching sites spread
over 8
countries is planning large-scale developments at its
campuses in
Karachi, Pakistan, Afghanistan and East Africa. As part
of
strategic plan, AKU intends to expand Private Wing
building which
is being designed to serve the patients in Pakistan and
overseas to
provide high-end ambiance, amenities and value added
services
comparable to the best health care facility around the
world.
For the construction of this state of art facility, we
are looking for
highly qualified and skilled individuals and invite
applications for
the following positions:
CONSTRUCTION MANAGER
The incumbent will be responsible for the overall
monitoring and
progress of on-going construction activities, ensuring
quality,
review of construction schedules with minimum
disruption to the
hospital operations. Arrange adequate manpower and
other
resources for timely completion of the project within
the budget.
LEAD ENGINEER (CONTRACTS)
The responsibilities include preparation, review and
management
of contracts for civil, electrical, mechanical, HVAC,
special items
works and consultancy agreements with architects
related to the
assigned projects. Assist in handing legal matters
pertaining to
taxes and statutory requirements and provide advice on
contractual matters and cost estimations. The incumbent
is also
expected to evaluate tenders and participate in bid
clarifications
with the contractors.
LEAD PROJECT CONTROLS
The incumbent will be responsible to develop strategic
plans to
identify the requirements of financial, human,
material, equipment
and other resources. Extend support to the project
management
function by providing periodically the progress status,
quality,
cost, and schedules ensuring timely completion of the
project.
PROJECT ENGINEERS
(CIVIL, ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL)
The incumbents will be responsible for the project on
site
execution, works as per design and specifications for
their
respective trades while ensuring quality, efficiency
and timely
completion of the project within the budget. To assist
in developing
day to day work plans, monitor and report daily
progress and
resolution of site issues in collaboration with the
contractors. The
incumbents will also require to ensure strict
compliance of
"Environmental Health and Safety" at sites.
QUANTITY SURVEYOR (CIVIL)
The job responsibilities includes to provide overall
project costs,
schedules and progress measurement of construction
works that
entails all structural and finishing works. The
incumbent will be
expected to prepare cost and expenditure statements and
other
necessary documentation regularly, ensuring that all
the estimated
activities are delivered within agreed timelines and
budgets.
SUPERVISORS (CIVIL ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL)
Reporting to the Project Engineers, the incumbents will
be
responsible to supervise and execute construction works
at site as
per drawings and specification. This includes close
liaison with the
contractor's staff and smooth settlement of issues. The
supervisors
will be required to verify the tasks performed on site
through daily
progress reports and also assist in payment of
invoices.
The candidates for all the above positions should have
related
qualifications, experience, competencies, excellent
communication
skills, sound technical knowledge and must be familiar
with the
quality standards required to perform.
